Kais Menoufy Honored with Prestigious Community Award at Florin JACL 75th Anniversary

Sacramento, CA - January 29, 2010

Kais Menoufy, CEO and President of Delegata, was the honored recipient of the prestigious ‘Community Partnership Award’ at the 75th Annual Banquet of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). Established in 1935, the Florin Chapter of the JACL is one of the oldest and most active community organizations involved in teaching cross-cultural understanding and promoting civil rights of all people.

Menoufy was awarded the ‘Community Partnership Award - in appreciation for his dedication and commitment to open communication among all peoples and for his support of youth leadership development’. Menoufy’s dedication to the community over the past decade was represented in video, pictures and narrative before an audience of hundreds of leaders from various community, business, interfaith and political organizations. While commemorating 75 years of civil rights education, advocacy, and community service, the Florin JACL focused their award ceremony on Menoufy.

Andy Noguchi, Civil Rights Co-Chair and Former President of the Florin JACL added, "Bridge builder, community servant, and friend. That’s how the Japanese American community, whose 120,000 members once suffered unfair internment during World War II, feels about Mr. Kais Menoufy today as he strives to bring so many diverse cultures and religions together to strengthen our community.”

“Receiving an award from the JACL has many meanings to me because they are the ones who introduced me to the hope of making a difference in our community”, Menoufy stated. “Nothing is more important than bringing people together to build a stronger foundation for peace and collaboration. There is so much we can learn from each other and so much we can give. It is already an honor to be working on programs that bring people from different cultures together to promote peace or provide opportunities for youth in our community - but to be honored by the Florin JACL at their 75th anniversary... I am humbled to receive this award from such a great organization.”

Menoufy has a long standing history with the JACL, beginning the day after 9/11, when he was asked to participate in a press conference and represent Muslims living in America. Since that day, Menoufy has pioneered and participated in countless community activities including the three programs he initiated: Youth for a Better Understanding, Building Bridges, and Closing the Gap.
