Community Celebrates International Collaboration with Building Bridges Reception

Sacramento, CA - September 10, 2008

Delegata is proud to host the 2nd Annual Building Bridges Reception on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at The Grand on 1215 J Street in Sacramento. The Building Bridges Reception honors Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker, Dean of University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, as well as the esteemed Sacramento leaders who traveled to Egypt to participate in the Building Bridges Summit this past March.

The Building Bridgesinitiative was founded by Delegata’s CEO and President, Kais Menoufy, to re-establish relationships between the East and the West that have rapidly deteriorated in recent years.  Building Bridges provides a platform for culture exchange, enhanced communications and progressive collaboration between the US and Middle East in an effort to expand the space for peace.

In 2007, Kais Menoufy and UC Davis Chancellor, Larry Vanderhoef, traveled with a delegation from UC Davis to meet with 12 other universities as well as many government officials and business leaders.  The collaborative initiatives in education, technology, science and agriculture are still active and progressing today.

This year, in 2008, Kais Menoufy partnered with Dean Elizabeth Parker from the UOP McGeorge School of Law to lead his second delegation to Egypt. The Building Bridges II workshops and discussions included: Dispute Resolution in Natural & International Business, International Business Law, Water & Sustainable Development, Islamic Law & Culture, High Tech Development, Academic Exchanges with Egyptian Universities, Foreign Policy Discussions, and Cultural Exchanges.

The delegation traveling from McGeorge brought with them the University’s prestigious reputation. As featured in “America’s Best Graduate Schools,” McGeorge’s International Law Program is consistently listed among the Top 20 law programs. McGeorge is recognized as one of the nation’s most diverse schools and is ranked among the top international programs committed to building relationships with the global community.  “Education and communication are imperative for both the Middle East and the US because there is so much both sides don’t understand about each other.  Reading alone is not enough because so much is lost in translation. The opportunity with Building Bridges II to discuss issues with experts in the field was compelling” stated Dean Parker.

Wednesday’s Building Bridges Reception is the community’s opportunity to engage in a dialogue with the delegation and to celebrate the collaborations developed by McGeorge and the various organizations in Egypt. The program includes reflections from the panel of delegates as well as a review of the accomplishments and progress that the Building Bridges initiative has brought to fruition this year. Delegata President and CEO, Kais Menoufy, adds “the commitment, dedication and time that was put into the Building Bridges II summit from Dean Parker and the delegation as well as the 14+ organizations and 300+ people we met with in Egypt goes to show how much this type of partnership is needed right now.  It is our responsibility to help future generations by participating in progressive efforts to achieve peaceful relations and collaboration.”

About Building Bridges

Building Bridges was founded to re-establish the great relationships between the East and the West that have rapidly deteriorated in recent years. We are utilizing the existing infrastructures between American and International organizations, establishing new relationships between the United States and other countries, as well as creating opportunities locally for people living in the same region to celebrate each others culture.

Delegata sponsors multiple local events and groups whose goals and mission align with Building Bridges. Delegata is involved with the Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival whose mission is to showcase the cultural diversity of the Sacramento Region through the presentation of an ethnic dance and music festival; Songs of Hope which brings together musicians from Israel, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, and the U.S. and is based on the premise that music can build bridges and create understanding between people in conflict; and Call for Unity, a concert event that brings diverse cultures and backgrounds together in one night of music for all to enjoy.
