Making the 2008 SARTA Index

Sacramento, CA - March 24, 2008

For the 5th consecutive year, Delegata was selected by the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) as one of the region’s top 50 high tech companies. The SARTA Technology Index monitors the health and status of the region's technology sector. Just as the S&P 500 acts as a bellwether for corporate America, the SARTA Technology Index is a barometer of how technology companies in the greater Sacramento region are performing. SARTA distributed the following regarding the index and its latest growth.

“The Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) is pleased to recognize and celebrate the success of the 50 companies that have earned a place on the 2008 SARTA Technology Index. These companies are leading the growth of the area’s technology economy. In fact, the growth segment of our high-tech economy has expanded by more than 34 percent in the past year (Q3 2006 – Q3 2007), as measured by the Tech Index”, stated SARTA CEO, JD Stack in the Sacramento Bee on March 19th, 2008. “Today innovation plays a central role in the future growth of practically every aspect of our regional economy. As corporations make long-term and far-reaching decisions for the investment of capital, the technology sector has proven to offer hope and excitement for the prospect of vibrant, resilient economic growth.”

3rd Quarter 2007

The SARTA Technology Index rose by 2.79 percent to a new high over the second quarter of 2007. Regional publicly-traded companies underperformed the stock market for a second consecutive quarter, slowing down overall Index growth. However, mostly due to strong equity investments during the third quarter, the SARTA Technology Index slightly outperformed major public indices. For a list of current Index companies, click here.

About the SARTA Tech Index™

As part of its mission to foster high tech entrepreneurial growth and attract private investment capital to the greater Sacramento region, SARTA has developed an innovative tool, the SARTA Technology Index™, to monitor the health and status of the region's technology sector. Just as the S&P 500 acts as a bellwether for corporate America, the SARTA Technology Index™ is a barometer of how technology companies in the greater Sacramento region are performing.

Today, there are national and international indices of technology companies, but to our knowledge, this is the first regional index ever to be developed. The Index includes public and private technology companies headquartered in the greater Sacramento region.
The numerical value of the SARTA Technology Index™ is based on a proprietary formula that tracks three financial metrics: revenue, employees and equity capital raised. The Index was set to 100.00 at its initiation and is updated on a quarterly basis.
