The future of collaboration and shared solutions in the State of California starts with today’s government technology initiatives. This session will feature a panel of leaders from state agencies who all have some experience with, and perspective on, building for a foundation of collaboration. This will be an educational forum for attendees to learn about how other departments have tackled recent projects and how to approach collaboration and shared solutions.

Discussions will lead to finding similarities in various concurrent projects and through those parallels discovering opportunities for shared solutions. Attendees will be challenged to look at their own organizations from a different perspective - not on the design level - but on the level of people, process and technology. Though some may argue that too much likeness takes away from innovation or individuality - as a community of government technologists - we need to identify where we can take advantage of similarities without hindering creativity.

This forum will help to develop a mindset for including collaboration in future strategies while developing current projects. We hope agency CIO’s and department managers leave with an understanding of how their projects today could be a foundation for collaboration in their own organizations as well as statewide in the near future.
