Time of Remembrance The Japanese American Citizens League is a national organization whose ongoing mission is to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all others who are victimized by injustice and prejudice. The leaders and members of JACL also work to promote cultural values and preserve the heritage and legacy of the Japanese American community. The Time of Remembrance is an annual event hosted by the Northern California Japanese American Citizens League at the California State History Museum. It acts as a reflection on the consequences of Executive Order 9066, which suspended due process and sent 120,000 Japanese Americans to U.S. internment camps during World War II. For more information about NCTOR please click here to visit the Northern California Time of Remembrance website.
