About SWMDF

Sacramento is recognized as one of the most diverse regions in America. In 2002, TIME Magazine called Sacramento "America's Most Ethnically Diverse City". Believing that culture is a fascinating and unifying element in all people, Delegata partnered with local businesses and members of the community to introduce the first Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival in October 2006. Now in 2009, as the Festival’s Presenting Sponsor, Delegata is proud to share with Sacramento on September 26th & 27th an event that celebrates its community’s diverse culture through dance, music and food.

The Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to bringing alive the music and dance from among the many cultures of our community, and educating people about the many benefits of embracing our differences. Continuing to grow since its inception in 2006, the 2009’s Festival will include a Dance Showcase, a Global Village, a children’s area, and a Saturday evening show at Sacramento’s Memorial Auditorium with both high-level amateur and professional groups to headline the evening’s show.

The initial objective of the festival is to provide a platform for the many cultures of the Sacramento region to showcase their culture through dance, music and food. Other objectives include but are not limited to:
